100 % Disabled Veterans combat related deserved this and more. There are only about 21k in California. It’s a very small percentage of the property owners. Monetarily will not make much difference to the counties but it certainly can make a huge difference to CA DV who are just surviving and not able to compete fully in the labor market due to disabilities caused by their engagement defending our country. Don’t expect much though, most likely the bill will be killed “silently” by the legislative body, again.

This bill would level veteran property taxes with many other states.

This bill is critical in supporting disabled vets. Let’s get this done!
Susan Knieriemen wrote 10 months ago

The best thing any state can do for its disabled veterans is to relieve them and their families of the burden of losing their home due to an inability to keep up with real estate taxes. Even a backwards state like Florida offers this relieve to its disabled vets. In a world of Californians, don’t be a Floridian.
Paul Pierre wrote 8 months ago

Disabled veterans are leaving California for states like Florida and Texas where retirement is not taxed. Disabled veterans with 100% disability also get full property tax exemption in many states, including Florida and Texas. We need to do better at keeping veterans in California.
