Comments on SB 176

As a surviving spouse of a 100% service connected disabled veteran from exposure to Agent Orange, I feel continuing this exemption as a personal exemption, not tied to a property is certainly the correct thing to do. My husband was taken as a healthy young man and abused by the use of Agent Orange. According to the genetics in his family, he should have lived another 30 years. AO took the life of my husband in a horrific disease. I cared for him in our home until he died. I've lost more than any amount of money could pay back. The surviving spouses are lost in this society. I am grateful for what I do receive, but feel so much more should be done. So many widows need to downsize, my husband is no longer living, whether I reside in the home we shared or not. I don't understand excluding us from the exemption if we move? It's nothing less than shameful if this State chooses to increase their revenue on the back of a widow of a 100% service connected disabled veteran.
