Comments on HB 1519

Sue Gibson wrote 1 week ago

“Moral”, “ethical”, or religious beliefs that justify discrimination and harm are not authentically moral nor ethical. A retired health care professional, I would have never withheld care from anyone. Anyone who would does not belong in the medical field.
Michael Dreyer wrote 1 week ago

This proposed bill dangerously prioritizes the subjective moral, ethical, or religious beliefs of healthcare institutions and professionals over the fundamental rights and well-being of individuals seeking sex reassignment surgery or gender identity transitioning. By allowing medical professionals to refuse participation in these crucial procedures, the bill not only endorses discrimination but also jeopardizes the access to essential healthcare services for a marginalized community. It undermines the principles of equal treatment, placing the personal beliefs of a few above the rights and dignity of those in need, thereby perpetuating inequality and potentially causing harm to vulnerable individuals.
